Question by Katie: How to have fun on a cruise as a teen?
So I’m going on a cruise on Saturday for a week but just with my immediate family so will it be fun? I’m sure my parents won’t mind me walking around by myself but I’m just worried I’m not going to have fun.. I know there are teen clubs and such but I’m pretty mature so I don’t know if I’m gonna fit in there..
What are some other things I could do to have fun? Will I meet friends?

They will have the teen club meeting the first night. Even if you don’t plan on participating, go anyway. If you find some of the activities interesting, then do them, if not, then don’t, but it doesn’t hurt to check them out. Most of the kids on the ship will go, some will participate, some won’t, but it’s a good opportunity to meet other kids.
I’m not a teen, but my kids are 17 and 18 and have been going on cruises since they were much younger. They aren’t much for joining things, but they always go to the meet and greet, find a couple other like-minded kids, and tend to hang with them.
Chances are, there won’t be a ton of kids as it isn’t a holiday.
Another suggestion, go on cruisecritic.com, and register. Go to the boards, do a search on your ship, and find the roll call for you sailing. A “roll call” is where a load of people going on the same cruise introduce themselves and chat before the sailing. You can go on and ask if anyone has any teens, and possibly get to know a few people before you leave. I did this for the first time before out last cruise. I hooked up my sons with a couple other kids and they all had a blast. I also found out about some really interesting excursions that weren’t through the ship. Heck, tell your parents about it. They may find it interesting. Have fun.
