What is the best video editing software for Mac to make music videos?

Question by Jim A: What is the best video editing software for Mac to make music videos?
I want to make a music video where I record the music and then line the video up with the music afterwards. iMovie 09 doesn’t allow you to put down music and then drag the video to the specific point you want. Also I find Final Cut Express isn’t that great for it neither. Or for that fact After Effects also.

Can someone please tell me some good software for making good music videos. I’m running OS X Leopard. Thank you.

Don’t blame the program FC and AE are very good apps. Pros use them both. It could be that your experience level is not letting you do what you want.

What you are running into is the problem of timing. If you are recording your own video of you singing and trying to match it to the cd, maybe you are not keeping good time. You may have to split the vid clips and adjust the timing of each to keep them timed to the cd. One way to do it is just to record in small segments instead of trying to go thru the whole song at once. You may end up with 10 clips but it’s easier to re-record a section than the whole thing again, right?

The “best” would be the strictly professional, production-quality editors. Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut Pro are the major players.

After Effects isn’t an editor, Premiere is. Final Cut Express is a watered down version of Final Cut Pro.

Remember, you get what you pay for. You want the best, expect to pay for the best. These editors cost upwards of $ 700, not including the cost of hardware needed to run them.

have u tried imtoo video converter for mac?a pretty good software, and i personally use it. i like it cos of its simple interface and uncomplicated settings (though availabe), easy to use for a beginner like me. i also like it because it has this bit rate calculator, where you just indicate how big the file you want it to convert to, then it will do the compressing for you! plus it has a built-in player, since sometimes i view the video i edit (yes, tweak the brightness and contrast and stuff) before conversion. pretty good stuff, i would recommend it.
