What advice can be given to teen girls dealing with insecurity due to acne?

Question by jasey: What advice can be given to teen girls dealing with insecurity due to acne?
Any advice/tips for young teen girls who start high school and have acne. How can they go out and feel good about themselves?
How to deal with what ppl say?
How not to feel ugly all the time?
I’m actually making a informational booklet for my English class
I already know how to treat acne

Please, please get the book Breaking Out by Lydia Preston. It essential for anyone with acne and has a chapter on how having acne can affect a person psychologically.

I am in the same situation girl, I have it on my fore head and chin…..I started useing proactiv and it all went away, and before I go to bed at night I put baby powder on my face and it drys them out. Now I barely have any and I already feel confident. What u need to do is find a solution and stop listening to what people say!

do people really care all that much?
i dont know about all schools, but atleast with me and my school i dont notice it. acne is a part of puberty and almost every adolescant goes through it. i dont even notice it anymore, and in 7 years, when high school is long gone, youll look back and see that the people who stuck by you for who you are not what you look like, are the only ones that still matter.
if people make fun of you for something as small as acne, make fun of them because they are going nowhere and have nothing better to do with their time.

    oh man
    ive been wondering the same!
i feel soo insecure when i go out
honestly, you should look for a dermatologist because it will save you money and will change your life
Im going soon, so i hope my acne nightmare will end
And the least you can do is wear makeup
of course makeup on acne is bad, but what other choice do we have?
wouldnt you rather cover it up than face the world with acne?
    cause i sure would
And Over the counter medicine dont work, its a waste of money and effort
talk to a doctor or someone who has been through the same thing as you

    Acne Rid or remove

STOP popping the spots, also known as pimples and zits. This may make the pimple look worse due to inflammation and irritation. Popping a zit can spread infection under the skin and produce even more pimples than before. If you do pop a spot then immediately clean it with soap and water or rubbing alcohol in order to prevent infection. If a pimple erupts in a particularly bothersome place, learn how to target a single pimple. And if you’re determined to pop, learn how to pop a pimple safely and properly. If you do pop a pimple and you want to avoid anything resembling Western medicine, one thing to try is put a mixture of honey and ground cinnamon on the spot. Put a band-aid on it also. You may also want to stay away from stress.

Remove any make-up you have on. Wearing make-up can clog pores, making them dirty and causing pimples. Also try to wear oil-free makeup (if you have oily skin) or a medicated makeup.

Use a mild soap for sensitive skin but it doesn’t matter exactly what type of soap you use. It can be designed for acne-prone skin or not, but you will want to treat your skin gently. Harsh antibacterial soap may actually make your acne worse by irritating skin.

Remove dead skin cells regularly by exfoliating. Use a gentle scrub with natural defoliants like ground walnut shells, or use an over-the-counter chemical defoliant like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Adding ground walnut shell to a thick moisturizer like cocoa butter can be effective too. Take caution, because over-exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin. Pat dry, rather than rubbing, since rubbing can cause irritation to the fresh skin you’ve just revealed.

It´s pretty normal to have acne when you´re a teenager. People shouldn´t feel sooo bad about it because they´re not alone. A lot of teen girls have the same problem. And if they feel ugly, they should treat the problem as fast as they can. By the way, every girl is pretty!
