What is the best way to get noticed in the music industry?

Question by Tommy: What is the best way to get noticed in the music industry?
I am a teen guy and pretty good looking(not to be arrogant but that is what Ive been told) and I have a pretty deep musical history that started in 3rd grade. A couple of years ago,I realized that I could actually sing in tune. After a while of practicing I have also developed a pretty good falsetto range.My family thinks that I sound pretty good(and I dont have one of those families that acts like losing a soccer game 3-0 is good for effort either lol). I know that it is pretty hard to get noticed out there in the music world but what would be best? I’m strongly thinking about making song covers like Austin Mahone did(who is now somewhat famous) or writing my own songs (like Taylor Swift did in her earlier years). Any suggestions? Thanks!

No one is going to notice anyone who hasn’t had any lessons. So your next step would be to find a good singing teacher and go for some lessons to make sure that you have proper singing techniques so that you don’t damage your voice.

Many people become famous on Youtube by doing covers of really famous songs (in order to gain views and subscribers). To stand out you should do songs that showcase your talent, and maybe add in your own kind of twist to your covers to make it more creative and stand out and just be different from the rest.

It’s nice to write your own songs too. However, in Youtube most people make covers of famous songs at the same time (e.g. Sungha Jung, Lindsey Sterling, Sam Tsui, Christina Grimmie, MANY others) partially to gain and maintain a wider fanbase, if you get what I mean.

(However if you’re not talking about Youtube there’s the issue of copyright for covers if you wanna make CD’s or something, so that may be a bit troublesome. Even inside of Youtube a massive number of videos are copyright infringements, but even so millions of people still make covers, even some of the famous people lol)

If you’re talking about the music industry in general, you should audition for a talent search and you might get signed to a music company. Or maybe sign up for lots of singing competitions or something.

And on a side note, a big thing about music in general is confidence. Sing and present yourself confidently in all situations~

And maybe if you can dance or something too, that could look nice? Or maybe if you can play the guitar? Or some other talent that you have? Multi-talented looks really good! (But you don’t have to be multi-talented of course if singing is just your thing and you’re really good at it!)

I would also *recommend* getting a singing coach, but then I never heard you sing. So whether or not you want a teacher is up to you.
