Question by Jim Halpert: Do ever wonder if sopa will demand any video sharing website should start costing money?
I heard they want youtube and other websites like youtube to start costing money per-month. Or it won’t be legal to stay anymore on the internet

That’s not what they want to do. They want to take down sites such as YouTube because it is being used to share copyrighted content over the Internet.

In the meantime, they are offering other services such as VEVO to make users watch adverts before certain copyrighted content, so everyone is happy – we get to watch our copyrighted content and the companies make money off the adverts.

No. YouTube are legally obliged to comply with the copyright owner’s instructions and that is considered adequate.
Teens have a tendency to misuse any site at all they get their hands on.
YouTube was started as a site for ordinary people to upload and share home videos – with their own images and their own sound – no copyright issues whatsoever. It was the bizarre teen obsession with uploading copyright content that led the three guys who started YouTube to simply give up, walk away from the site and offer it for sale.
In terms of SOPA, imagine you are a recording artist and you issue a track for people to buy because music is your profession and you are in it to earn money. How would you feel if a horde of random teens are stealing your track from the Internet instead of buying it.
The only reason SOPA is even needed is because arrogant teens simply will not stop their theft of content from the Internet.

First of all… SOPA isn’t an organization. It’s a failed bill. It doesn’t want anything. It also had absolutely nothing to do with video sites charging fees.

Second… It’s a failed bill. It never even made it to a vote, and has no legal authority to begin with.

If you want to worry about something, worry about the CISPA/CSA/SECURE IT bills that are currently under consideration in Congress, rather than the one that was defeated months ago.
