Why is Youtube suddenly clamping down on music videos?

posted in Entertainment |

Question by Andrew M: Why is Youtube suddenly clamping down on music videos?
I was just pondering this today when I tried to watch some Music vids by RHCP and they weren’t there.
Also a lot of the music videos I have on my bebo page have disappeared too.
What’s with all the clamping down?

Ever since they gave up on trying to sue everyone that downloaded illegal music from limewire and such, it is much easier to go to youtube and get the unofficial music videos taken down. Since there is software that downloads youtube vids into non-flash format, people can get free music vids from youtube. this helps prevent stuff like that

Youtube is having copyright issues. The music companies are tearing them down because we never asked permission to put them up and it’s illegal for us to put them up without permission… A user account called “therealweeklynews” does a VERY good job of explaining what’s happening with I think 2-4 videos on it i think. Like w/ his video called “VIACOM VS YOU = BOYCOTT”
I’m getting tired of it myself, so I joined another video sharing website (very small community of maybe 180 people) called bestonvideo.com . It might end up the same way youtube is now, but you never know. There’s also some rumor that youtube is shutting down September 2009 because of all the copyright issues…
