Q&A: What can I do about being transgendered and depressed?

posted in Chat & Forums |

Question by Inga: What can I do about being transgendered and depressed?
I’m a 17 years oold transgendered teen (was born in girls body) and I’m completely depressed about it. Nobody know’s about secret and my family is completly homophobic! I get really depressed and sometimes feel a suicidal because I’m all alone and I’m living a lie. I want a sex change but I know it’s almost impossible in my country + my family will cut themsleves off from me.

Ok, stop right there. You need to get professional help, not help from a bunch of net philosophers (although I am awesome!) The suicide rate for trans teens is very high, and your few sentences are sending out some warning signals to me. Get yourself to a guidance counsellor, or your family doctor, and tell them everything. You may be surprised by the reaction of your family, too. They may be supportive. And if they’re not, you can find a huge LGBTTQ community that can be like family to you. Remember, there are many, many, people that have walked in your shoes. You’re just too young to have heard all of their stories. Hang on until you have had some inspiration.

Look, i know this is tough… but the best you can do is suck it up and just wait until your 18. whats worse, living in depression and not being who you are, or leaving your family? Its hard! Just wait until your 18 and old enough to be on your own to tell them. Holding it in will just let it build up until you get thrown over the edge and you may do something you’ll regret. Tell them when you turn 18, and if you ant a sex change go for it. Come to the U.S! We have em here! 😀
Good luck, Your not the only one, trust me<3

Life never came with a promise you can everything you want the moment you want it.

Is it feasible for you to have surgery in the next 10 minutes?

Think of becoming the real you as a goal. Goals get set, and you work towards them.

Here it is easy to see how difficult it is to get to the end result, however, you should think of the trip to get to the end result all part of the journey.

Perhaps I will see you in Thailand when you are 26 years old and a handsome man?
Perhaps it will be sooner. Teens with scrawny bodies that want to be muscular hunks set a goal and work towards it too.

Either way working towards your goal is all about find more about the subject, finding others who have done the same, and believing you can do it too.
