Thanks students and staff at SE Polk Senior High School. The Library and the Book Club appreciate your help in making a difference for our friends in Haiti!

Look for the following: a beautiful Valentine Card for Hope for Haiti cause, the motto: Southeast Polk Way, and yellow ribbons representing the students drive to keep the fine arts alive and the teaching staff in tact in this area of the curriculum. We are facing some big cuts in our school district for 2010, with Fine Arts, music, and elementary school librarians and clerks as some of the targeted areas. I understand this is a national problem but it is a sad one.

Congratuations on your fundraising efforts. As we all know, every penny for Haiti helps and your students and staff have made a great contribution!

I can certainly relate to your concern with budget cuts in your school district. We to, in Alberta, Canada are facing large cuts in programming, staff, and even school closures. :(
