Are weight loss supplements dangerous or do they work?

Question by TJ: Are weight loss supplements dangerous or do they work?
I am doing some weight training for the first time. I love working out and want the best possible results. I’m seeking to become a personal trainer, do some excersise videos, and be in a few fitness magazines. Do weight loss supplements, such as hydroxycut or slimquik, really work? Are they dangerous for your body? How do they work?

Thank you kindly for answering. I appreciate you all.

Manufacturers usually recommend that you use them with your diet and exercise program.

The diet and exercise are there to achieve the results while the weight loss supplement is there to get the credit.

theyre ripoffs… and they arent healthy for you..if you read fine print they tell you to eat right and exercise so that tells you that they dont work.. so its better just to do it the old fashioned way, eat right and exercise!

Weight loss supplements are tricky. They can cause all sorts of health issues, including mental illness, liver problems, etc… Definitely ask a doctor, but most everyone who’s ever actually used supplements will tell you to stay clear of them.

But green tea actually helps. It’s natural and full of antioxidents.

If by work you mean do they increase your resting metabolism, the some work and some do not. What this means is that they artificially, temporarily stimulate your nervous system and this results in your burning more calories per day. Some other supplements state that they are appetite suppressants. This means that they reduce your desire to eat, so you take in less calories per day. Still others state that they block the absorption of fat. This means that you get fewer calories from the fat you eat (i.e. it passes through you undigested).

Just like any other supplement, for some people, these products can have harmful side effects.

You indicated that you are weight training for the first time. My suggestion is that you do everything you can in the gym and at home with a good nutritional program (how you eat). If, and only if, you hit a plateau should you even consider supplementation.

Supplements should be a last resort, not a first line of action.

I do mix in some weight loss supplements when I lose weight. I use Hoodia or Proshape RX.

Try this site. My brother lost 5 lbs. in a week without trying. It is eating this special chocolate and following it with a 8 oz. glass of water. It tastes like the dark rich chocolate every time you drink the water for a while and helps curb your appetite. It is an all natural chocolate, that will even help diabetics control blood sugar. It doesn’t have the sugars in it that regular chocolate does. It also supposedly has other health benefits. Try it to see how you may like it. My brother does and he wasn’t tremendously overweight. The website is http://www.youngevityonline.com/mommachoc. The product your looking for in called TruChocolate and you can hook up the distributor through the website.

If you are looking forward to lose weight, you carry out a Google search for “weight loss” or “weight loss pills.” But instead of sensible weight loss tips and products, you come across plenty of hype and marketing jargon. But most of it is false. If you could just take a pill to lose weight, then obesity would not be an issue any more. This makes the “pill-only” solution a sham.

Your metabolism and flipping a switch are 2 different things. Many factors decide how well or poorly it works, like your weight and the amount and type of your physical activities. Hence the diet pill industry is full on unsatisfied customers and very few success stories. The “pill-only” products cannot handle all the factors responsible for slow metabolism.
