    Stop spelling it “Teen Idol.” If you spell it that way, it has a totally different meaning. Marina meant for the song to be about regretting what you hadn’t done when you were a teen, and what she wants to do, coming from a teen point of view (“I wanna drink until I ache, I wanna make a big mistake.”) It’s a beautiful song and definitely one of my favourites on Electra Heart. <3

    Quite the double entendre, this song.. She regrets not getting to do all she wanted to in her youth and now that she’s older and recognized, she can’t do anything innocently.. That’s why she spells it “idle”.. It shows her regret by idolizing the worst, most confusing parts of adolescence and saying she “wishes” she experienced them all. And the part when they say “super super super suicidal” is a prime example of the mixed emotions of both teens AND the irony of the song itself.
