Why do people say Merry Xmas instead of Christmas? Arent Xs usually used for kisses?

    all I know is xmas is christmas witout christ. xmas is supossed to be a shortened versions of chrsitmas. But it is not. It is christmas without christ.

    Despite the good intentions of those who think that the X in Xmas is supposed to represent a Greek letter the reason that xmas is used is due to the secularization of this most Holy Day….the retailers and those in charge corporations etc decided that to not offend anyone they would start using merry xmas instead of the correct Merry Christmas in doing so they are trying to remove Christ from the season as it were. The same thing for saying Happy Holidays….most do not know that the word holiday began as Holy Day….very sad but more Prophecies of the Bible coming true every year :
