Same old stuff. (3 stars)
Thank god for Mike Spreitzer. Without him, this band would have burnt out long ago. Dez's lyrics are so cliche when it comes to heavy metal. This band has become such a try hard death metal band and has completely gotten away from what got them popular in the first place. Beast was a complete disappointment. I fear this will be the same. Oh well, I'll still buy it.

They Still Got It (5 stars)
DevilDriver has been top notch since they entered the scene. They have remained consistently brutal and have stayed very true to their roots. Each new album, on first listen, is a lot to take in. I'm not sure what it is about records like this but it takes several listens before the tracks really sink in, and that's when I really start to love it. This album is no exception. It's not that I think DD can do no wrong, it's just that they haven

Dull and repetitive (1 star)
Every time DevilDriver drops a new album, I am excited, but since Pray for Villains, the albums have been overloaded with sound-alike, play-fast-and-scream-a-lot songs. This band has really lost the groove and haunting melody its first few albums had, and now it just sounds generic and derivative. The only song here that has any uniqueness is "Sail."

Signed to Roadrunner like Fafara's previous group, DevilDriver released their eponymous debut to mixed reviews in 2003, and then its even less appreciated follow-up, The...
