When it comes to "Collapsable Lung" I will forget and not slow down. (1 star)
I tried to enjoy this album, but with the exception of "Don't Blink" I can't. It's clear the intention was just to have a good time and make a pop album, but lyrically there is too much of a departure for me. It doesn't hold the same brilliance of Matthew Thiessen's trademark writing style. If it did, I could buy into the pop vibe this album holds, but it's so void of substance that I can't enjoy it. Let me try to sum up my disappointment of this record in a few bullet points:

- Relient K, after years and years of making consistently perfect records, has failed me

- Following up their most rock orientated, most emotional, most ambitious work to date, they follow it up with what I can sincerely call "pop garbage"

- Co-writes abound on this album, from some huge writers of pop hits (do your own research

I can't stand when people complain that bands have "changed". It's not that they changed, they're just trying out different sounds. People complain if things sound too similar and right when a band tries new things, they complain too. Canton, Ohio's Relient K formed in 1998 and joined the parade of Christian punk-pop artists (MxPx, Ghoti Hook, Slick Shoes, etc.) with their self-titled 2000 debut, mixing catchy melodies and snotty attitude with spiritual concerns.
