A BREATH OF FRESH AIR (5 stars) I absolutely love coming across new original artists that bring something daring and different to the pop genre, and Lorde is definitely no exception. It's pretty hard to believe that she's only sixteen years old because her voice is simply astonishing. She has such a gracefully sophisticated poise to her that very few singers her age have, and her style is very simplistic yet contemporary and intimate. Tremendously satisfying—original compelling lyrics delivered by a seemingly young but sophisticated young woman with a pop goddess voice and a veteran performer's poise. Very contemporary production that uses sparse instrumentation and electronic percussion elements with skillfully tweaked reverb to create an intimate but uncrowded setting.
