Zyvox (Linezolid) is an antibiotic which is used to manage severe bacterial infections that have not reacted to other antibiotics (resistant infections). It functions by preventing the expansion of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. Community-acquired pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, including cases with concurrent bacteremia, or Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible isolates only). Skin and Skin Structure Infections Complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections, without concomitant osteomyelitis, caused byStaphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible and -resistant isolates), Streptococcus pyogenes, or Streptococcus agalactiae.
