Could be a conflict with your mouse, USB port. You need to make sure all of your devices are Windows 7 compatible. But like mentioned before, there are other things that could cause this. A faulty power supply has been known to stop things cold, in their tracks. Loose memory sticks, faulty keyboard. Try using another mouse, if you have access to one, and see if that helps. A clean install does not install your old drivers, so you need to reinstall all your programs and drivers, and update them so that they run on Windows 7. But unless you have a mouse that doesn't run on Windows mouse drivers, your mouse should work. Later, you need to install your particular brand mouse driver. I once had a keyboard that wouldn't work when installing Windows XP, because the keyboard was USB powered, and it would not power up during the install, I had to use an adapter to plug the keyboard into a regular keyboard slot. My son had a computer that would run for a hour or maybe just a few minutes, and then..poof, it would go off. I replaced the power supply and it worked great after that. Good luck
