I was hesitant about buying a new computer with the Windows 7 64 bit version because a couple of people were telling me that my old software programs would not install correctly. I rely heavily on most of my old software programs which is why this was a huge issue. Despite what people told me, I decided to give it a try and purchased a new computer from Walmart. Suprisingly, ALL of my old software programs have installed just fine. Even really old programs that came out in the 90's. I don't have the Windows XP add-on which is what a lot of people in forums were saying you needed to run older programs. Is it just my computer or something? I have an AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor. Or has Windows 7 since been updated to where most older programs work properly?

windows 7 x64 can emulate a x86 architecture.

What you see is normal. the people who told you otherwise do not know what they are talking about.

ALL of your old programs will run just fine on 64 bit. ALL OF THEM they will install to the folder (Program Files x86) and they run off of the desktop or the start menu just like any other program.
