first grab a drink, this is gonna take a while..



(custom built PC.had it for 3 years.)

i hadn't used it in a while and decided to install XP on it

after an ubuntu instillation that didn't work.



1)problem sound card has no CD.

i didn't have any problems with the sound card before but now it doesn't detect it.



could this work?

i herd that if you take out the hardware and turn it on once WITH and once WITHOUT it that might help detect it.

BUT what if the sound card is INTEGRATED into the motherboard.

how can i fix it than.



2)problem how do i make or get rid of a DUAL BOOT SYSTEM.

it seems i had the computer PARTITIONED by "accident" after i had tried to install Windows more than once.

and so now i am stuck with 3 copy's of XP and a 30 second countdown that DOESN'T RESPOND every time i restart.



my laptop can handle so much.

and so i need this desktop for storage and media .

anything that would help me be more rounded when it comes to these problems would also be great.

If the audio is onboard check and make sure its enabled in the Bios ! If its a PCI audio cable you can try to remove it like you were asking reboot and then shut it down add the card again and restart to see if it sees it.

To delete bad boot paths go to start run type msconfig go to Boot.ini and select check all boot paths it will delete bad paths .. When your PC restarts check the box to not show the changes in msconfig !
