I have just recently purchased a computer off a reliable computer company and i'm curious to know if it is any good. I have read reviews and they have been nothing but good. Mostly 4 out of 5's. The lowest i've seen was 4. Also, I've noticed the graphics card in it isn't that good. It's an ATI Radeon 3100. I do not plan to play games such as crysis or mmo's but instead SOURCE games like half life, counter strike, gmod etc. Specifications: AMD Quad core processor 2.2GHZ, 4GB ram, ATI radeon 3100. (i have researched the other specifications and they look okay) Will i be able to swap this graphics card or is it integrated? The description mentioned something about Visionman computers being fully upgradable and i would guess that i would be able to replace the chip otherwise it would not be considered fully upgradable. Any thoughts? I'd appreciate your help.

You answered my question Jerm thanks, Sorry i forgot to name the processor. It is a phenom X4. I'll hope to be able to install a new graphics card.

capricorn, the website i bought it from stated that it was a gaming a computer. Maybe it's an upgraded version? or they tampered with it? Maybe i copied the wrong name.

You should have listed the model of the processor, but assuming it is a phenom II, it seems to be a great gaming computer for moderate gaming. The Radeon 3100 is an IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor). Though the processor itself cannot be replaced, you can always add an ACTUAL graphics card and computer won't even know it has an IGP. In other words, your computer doesn't have a graphics card and you should get one. I'd recommend any of the radeon 4000 series. I personally like the Radeon 4550, it's great for light to moderate gaming and it can play most new games at low to medium graphics.

This card will most likely fit your needs best for the price ($20 after MIR + free shipping):

This one I recommend:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127458

And this one leaves some room in case you do decide to play some new games, such as crisis:

Non of these are high end cards, and the 4670 is low in the performance class. the other two are economy/budget class. If you want a high end card (Radeon 4890), I'd recommend this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150438

still slightly cheaper than the GTX 260... the lower model (the 4870) out performs the GTX 260 in every way, shape, and form; it performs 6% better, uses 32w less power, and is about $15-50 depending on who manufactures the card.

With no operating system, CD/DVD-ROM or hard disk included, that doesn't seem like a good of a deal to me. I assume you have an operating system (full) installation disc somewhere? You'll need it.

The system is here: http://www.visionman.com/visionman-vbba278v00-barebone-pc-amd-phenom-x4-9550-asus-m3a78cm-4gb-ddr2800-gigabit-dvidi-p-8448.html I note that they don't even use the word *gamer* or *gaming* anywhere. Clearly, they don't think of it as such. Nor should they.

The motherboard is an Asus M3A78-CM. You can find the details here: http://asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=L8sWyNMUTe1HHyAc It has a PCIe x16 slot for a drop in graphics card and even supports hybrid Crossfire if the add-in graphics card is an ATI card of the right type.

Essentially, the motherboard is a generation back from the latest AMD boards (It's AM2+ rather than AM3 and DDR2 rather than DDR3), the integrated ATI 3100 will be useless for most games .. even Half Life I suspect.

A no-name case. A no-name power supply. I've never heard of Silicon Mountain Memory, so no-name memory as well. It's probably OK. Anyone with a half decent fab can put together DDR2 800 RAM.

Here's a sample I threw together off Newegg:

Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

Mine looks to be about $10 .. until you send in the $40 in rebates. It's a faster processor, faster memory, a real video card (though I'd want to bump that up some more) and all the same things as the barebones system had, but using brand name makers: Antec case, G.Skill memory, Mushkin power supply ...
