I have a old Dell with a intel pentium 4 processor 1.7GHz CPU. And 20GB hard dirve my RAM is 256MB. My OS is the OLD windows XP. It is really SLOW so I install the Registry Mechanic

And now it is really slow. And I have a message saying activate Windows xp. I cannot reinstall the operating system I do not have one. HELP

I recently bought a new PC with XP SP3 installed. It had a blue and pink sticker on the side with the Windows activation number on it. I carefully jotted it down, because it too was asking me to activate XP.

Then, when I clicked on the Activate notice, it activated without me having to input the code.

Might give it a try, even without the code.

Registry mechanic is dangerous junk. It more often destroys the system rather than fixes it, and it is a massive load for a machine with limited resources. It has now killed your original activation, so you must uninstall it totally, then try to go to the activation page at the Microsoft site.

Connect it to the internet and activate,
ethernet is the easiest, requires no installing

It is a dangerous thing to use registry cleaners unless you know exactly what you are doing. It sounds like a registry entry got deleted. You can press F8 on boot up and then start the computer with the last known good configuration, which will be the restore point created before the registry was cleaned. If that doesn't work then you will have to reload the OS.

I have a Gatway 400 233MHz 62MB RAM 6HD but it all work good.
