I have a Windows 7 RC installation DVD and I want to install it on my custom-made computer, problem is, when I put the DVD in and reboot, It just goes into XP. I have a Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS with an SiI 0680 ATA/133 Controller BIOS Version 3.3.08 (I don't know what any of this stuff means) and an LG DVD burner w/ LightScribe. I put the boot settings in the BIOS to boot from a "[CDROM]' first and I can be sure the DVD is bootable because my Vista Home Premium doesn't boot nor does my Kubuntu 8.04 KDE 4 LiveCD boot in the HP CD Writer.

Also, If anyone has any other ideas of ways to install Windows 7, please tell me, that would be useful.

Thanks!!!

Any answers would be very very appreciated!!! :-)

I also had the same problem. If you can boot XP, just install it from there. Once your logged in and everything is loaded, just pop the disk in and it should auto-run. It's common sense from there. By the way, you cannot upgrade from XP, you have to completely start over, and when it's installed, you will have all of your old files in a folder called Windows.old.

Hope this helps!

Not sure exactly what you're after.

Most BIOS information is stored on a ROM chip on the motherboard, meaning it can't be accessed. These are generally now on flash ROM meaning things can be updated, but I don't think you can change a BIOS altogether.

I may be wrong, but from what I have read thus far, BIOS information is Motherboard specific.

Edit: Ah, Sorry I misunderstood the question..

Are you trying to set it up as a dual OS?
