Sri Lanka's inflation in June soared above 54 percent, with the IMF urging the government to urgently fix the issue. and domestic corruption to pave the way for new assistance


Foreign news agencies reported from Colombo. Sri Lanka on July 2, Sri Lanka's National Statistical Office reported the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a statistical figure that measures the change in average prices of goods and services over time. and is widely used to calculate the inflation rate. It appears that Sri Lanka's statistics in June were 54.6%, the first time in the country's history. where the CCPI index is above 50%



The disclosure of the numbers came only a few days ago. After the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation concluded a 10-day visit to Sri Lanka to discuss a new Sri Lankan petition. In seeking new financial assistance from the IMF, however, the initial demands of the IMF including inflation control and dealing with corruption in the country


Sri Lanka's CPI rose steadily, from 7.6 percent year-on-year in October last year to 39.1 percent in May, while the rupee is steadily rising from 7.6 percent year-on-year in October. Sri Lanka lost more than half against the US dollar. since the beginning of this year


However, an analysis by Johns Hopkins University in the United States shows that Sri Lanka's inflation rate is now at 128%, the second highest in the world. after Zimbabwe which has a record of 365%


While Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the leader of Sri Lanka frankly recently that the country's economy “Complete collapse” due to lack of budget for fuel and food imports to meet the needs of nearly 22 million people in the country
