We call this phenomenon the “Overview Effect,” or a change in thought processes and perceptions when seeing the world from above. and acknowledging that, in fact, we humans are but dust in space.
But you don't have to be an astronaut to see the world from above. Because late last year, Japanese billionaire Maezawa Yusaku had the opportunity to go up to space as a tourist. Using Time-Lapse (a technique of capturing still images and then combining them into accelerated video), he captures the world from above in time-lapse, resulting in a stunning 24-second clip.
This 24-second clip shows the Earth revolving around itself as the International Space Station's solar panels spin in the foreground. The changes in space have shown us that our life on Earth is actually so small that it can't be compared to the vastness of space.
Maezawa's journey to space has made him a trendsetter in space tourism that is likely to grow even more in 2022, as Blue Origin is now working on building its own private space station (Blue Origin is a tourism project. The space of Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men in the world. (He is the founder and former CEO of Amazon. Project Blue Origin is also named a competitor to SpaceX.) Maezawa personally aims to have the opportunity to travel to the moon with SpaceX in the future.
Space travel may sound like a distant thing. but at least for now We were able to enjoy beautiful pictures of the world from above. It makes you think about the direction of life in 2022 that is just beginning.
