Japan has a new prime minister, Fumio Kishida, with a general election date set for October 31.

On October 4, 2021, Kyodo NewsSLOTXOreported that Fumio Kishida has been appointed as the new prime minister of Japan. Ready to set up a cabinet to have a mission to control COVID-19 and a big economic recovery. At the same time it has to try to win votes from the voters. before the general election campaign that takes place in less than a month

A source close to Kishida said elections for the House of Representatives, the influential house in parliament, were scheduled to take place on October 31, earlier than expected. Earlier, House of Representatives elections were expected in the first half of November.

Kishida, 64, took over as Japan's prime minister, replacing Yoshihide Suka, who resigned after just a year as prime minister and criticized for its response to the coronavirus.

The new cabinet consists of a large number of new members, of which 13 have just taken over as ministers for the first time. Of the 20 ministers, Taro Aso was resigned as finance minister for the first time in nearly nine years.

The average age of Japanese ministers is quite high, 61.8 years, and there are only three women. The new cabinet also includes a number of people close to former prime minister Shinzo Abe and Aso.

The second unchanging president is the Secretary of State. It also belongs to Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi and Chief Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi, Abe's younger brother. Aso's brother-in-law, Shunichi Suzuki, was transferred from Olympics minister to finance minister, and former education minister Hirokazu Matsuno was transferred to cabinet secretary.

“This is the real beginning. I will step forward with determination. with steadfast determination,” Kishida told reporters in the morning at the ruling party headquarters in Tokyo. who elected him as the new leader last week.

After being elected as Prime Minister by a majority of votes from both Houses Mr. Kishida will be formally appointed by Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace.


A senior party source said: Mr Kishida plans to dissolve parliament on October 14 and begin his campaign for general elections on October 19, which will be his first test phase.
