 Post subject: How can I use a microphone to get my voice on the computer?

I want to know how to get my voice onto the computer - I have a microphone and everything, but I have no clue how to record it and save the file ro anything, so if somebody can give me a detailed answer, that would be great.

Your computer should auto-detect the microphone when you plug it in, so open up the start menu, select "Run", and type in "sndrec32". Once the Sound Recorder application opens, it should be pretty straightforward.

Windows has a built in program called Sound Recorder...you need to run that. It will give you the option to record, play and save your sound.

It should be under start>>All Programs>>Accessories

In addition to the built in Sound Recorder, you can download a free app called Audacity from audacity.sourceforge.net. It has a lot more options and capabilities.

You could try using audacity you can download it from here http://www.download.com/Audacity/3000-2170_4-10058117.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10606824
it is a free program that let you record and edit your voice it lets you change the speed of your voice the tone and the pitch and much more!
