Teams like netherlands, canada, ireland, kenya, bangladesh are playing in WC 2011. It is very obvious they will be washed away swiftly in the first round itself. There is no significance or sense. They don't know how to play cricket and have no background whatsoever. In recent world cups this has been a trend. Bermuda, Namibia, also played in recent world cups, and they were a joke. What is the point of seeing a one-sided match with these teams? Its just waste of time and makes world cup boring. The WC should be restricted to the original 9 countries (bangladesh not counted) or a new team entering WC must know how to play. If ICC thinks it makes world cup more exciting by adding such teams, then they are dreaming
i'm glad in 2015 world cup no such teams are allowed and the WC 2015 is only restricted to test playing nations. Its too bad, ICC's eyes didn't open fast enough to realize such teams are tournament killers

WC should be limited to top 8 teams only.

These 4 teams are picked after playing initial round omong all other countries playing
cricket besides test playing countries.There are upcoming crickter from these countries.
Kenya played semi.&Bangladesh won against India & they were out of race.Who knows
some day they will be good teams & may be one of the top few teams of the world.
They should be given chance & oppprtunity to see & play with top teams to learn the game.
Dont dicourage new teams.

I agree with Sunil,how are they supposed to get into international cricket without the experience of playing against the top teams? Ireland did well in the last WC & I look forward to seeing how they go this time.

I don't entirely agree with you. yes the extra teams are to build up the paucity of numbers but some like bangladesh and last time Ireland maybe kenya And I hear Afghanistan are improving. So give them a chance! We need more nations playing the game if it is too grow. this type of tournament gives them that incentive.

These nations have every right to participate at the World Cup...they are attempting to develop the game in their respective nations and through no fault of their own, they are getting ignored and pushed aside by the joke that is the ICC. All it is is money for them, so long as the big teams are looked after, the Netherlands, Ireland etc are damned.

Dont see how you can claim they are tournament killers. They've been participating since 96 and haven't ruined the game. They've provided some entertaining moments and the only thing that has killed a tournament is India's exit in 2007...and having far too many pool matches.

The ultimate word, and I think you are missing the point is WORLD. Let's not see Cricket go the way of the USA baseball 'world cup' where they only play with themselves.
Soccer is leading the way. How about if 30 or 35 years ago, someone said 'why is Australia in the World Cup?' Look at us now, making finals.

It wasn't that long ago that Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) entered the Test playing arena and got clobbered.
Think about the things you have have had to learn to do with no experience. Where would you be today if others had said 'why are you allowed to do this, you are no good because you don't know what you are doing and have no experience?' e.g. First job, drivers license, sexual encounter, marriage.

The ICCs biggest mistake is NOT allowing the 'minnows' of cricket to continue their participation.

Best team in the world like India Srilanka were useless team in the world..they show their talent...thus way new teams like bangladesh will bounce top teams like australia
