Sony NEX-FS100U Super 35mm Sensor Camcorder is Sony's first affordable and fully professional large-sensor video camera. Able to shoot full 1080p video in a range of frame rates up to 60p, the FS100 provides the option of recording 28Mbps AVCHD footage onto SD or Memory Stick media, or it can output uncompressed 4:2:2 video (with embedded timecode) and RGB via HDMI 1.4 to an external recording unit. Simultaneous recording to both is also possible when instant backup is called for. There's no stinting on audio, either, as the camera includes not only a shotgun microphone with mount/carrying handle, but dual XLR inputs for recording uncompressed, professional-level sound from an external source.

Final Cut Pro X, the latest version of video-editing software geared for professionals from a company increasingly focused on mainstream consumers. Final Cut Pro X is a follow-up to Final Cut Pro 7, software Apple released in 2009 as part of Final Cut Studio. Like Apple’s newly released of Mac OS X Mavericks, Final Cut Pro X was only be available to customers through the Mac App Store. However, this new released FCP X does not support well with NEX-FS100U AVCHD Videos.

So if you want to edit Sony NEX-FS100U 1080 AVCHD Videos in Final Cut Pro X, you are recommended to use UFUSoft AVCHD Converter for Mac, which is the superior [B] for Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion and Snow Leopard. It does not only convert Sony NEX-FS100U AVCHD to MOV on Mac, but also merges 1080 MTS files for import into Final Cut Pro X.

Here is the step-by-step guide for you to import and edit Sony NEX-FS100U MTS to Final Cut Pro X on iMac/MacBook Pro with Mac OS X like Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion or Snow Leopard.

Step 1. Load Sony AVCHD videos to UFUSoft AVCHD Converter for Mac.

After transferring .mts files from Sony NEX-FS100U camera, run UFUSoft AVCHD Converter for Mac as the best [B], and click the “Add File” button to load .mts videos.

Step 2. Choose H.264/AVC MOV output format.

Click the “Format” option, and choose HD Video > HD MOV (*.mov) for converting AVCHD videos from MTS to MOV with H.264/AVC as video codec for loading to Final Cut Studio. With this option, the output video will be kept as high definition 1920×1080.

Select all the files and then click “Merge”, and the Sony NEX-FS100U MTS converter will join and combine the video clips into a single file as output.

Step 4. Convert Sony NEX-FS100U MTS to MOV for Final Cut Pro X.

After converting and merging the MTS files, just import the output files to Final Cut Pro X and the video is in HD 1920×1080. You can also import the output videos to Final Cut Express (FCE) 4 for editing in full HD.
