DaimlerChrysler will offer up to forty Dodge Sprinter Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) for testing in New York, Kansas City, and California. They will be placed in operation with owners as part of a worldwide test fleet program.� DaimlerChrysler says that it is the only manufacturer offering these plug-in hybrids for real-world testing. The Sprinter PHEV will have a V6 gasoline engine or five-cylinder diesel engine along with the electric system.� The car has the ability to go up to 32 km solely on electric power. The driver will have a switch mounted on the dash to switch between modes, or switched automatically by the vehicle control system.� �Source:
