About 300 cats will attend a memorial service for Ginny, A schnauzer-Siberian husky mix. Ginny will be eulogized Nov. 19 at the Westchester Cat Show, where she was named "Cat" of the Year in 1998. The dog was honored for rescuing endangered tabbies. "I didn't train her," said her owner. "Ginny was just magical in a way. I adopted her from a shelter, and they said she's never been with cats before. But she just had this knack of knowing when a cat was in trouble." Ginny was 17 years old when she died in August after a career of being a one-dog rescue party for cats on Long Island's South Shore. Her owner, Philip Gonzalez, has written two books about the dog and feeds, spays and neuters stray cats. Source: hosted.ap.org
