The barometric pressure near the hurricane's eye is said to be lower than Katrina's making it more intense. The storm is sustaining winds of 175mph is moving west at approximately 9mph, and is said to be 370 miles wide. "This is the first time people have responded the way they have," said the mayor of the evacuations. Officials in Bay City were preparing to shut down the nuclear plant before the hurricane arrives.
