White House's Source of Iraq-Qaeda Link Probable Liar The source of the Bush administration's claims that there was an Iraq al Qaeda link was branded a probable liar months before those claims were made public. The White House claimed al Qaeda learned to use biological and chemical weapons in Iraq. The high ranking al Qaeda operative, Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, was suspected by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) of misleading interrogators about Iraqi support. Bush, Cheney, Powell and others still used his statements as "credible" evidence. The DIA document also said, "It is possible he does not know any further details; it is more likely this individual is intentionally misleading the debriefers."
