A Himalayan ski resort with five star hotels is planned in the Dhauladhar Mountains in India. $500 million will be spent to attract the young IT professionals of India who enjoy outdoor activities like trekking, mountain climbing and rafting. The average age in India is 26 and they are the driving force in economic trends. Large hotel chains are bidding to build huge complexes in the resort. Present Architectural plans show a high standard resort based on local Himalayan style. 300 villas and 700 5-star hotel rooms are planned to be built over 50 acres, at an altitude of 9200 to 14000 feet. The land will be leased from the Himachal Pradesh government for 99 years. Environmentalists are worried about the size of the resort. Source:
