Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, a 24 year old Virginia man, has been charged with 9 counts including attempting to hijack a plane. Prosecutors argued that he attempted to set up a terrorist cell and plotted to kill President Bush while working for Al-Queda. Shooting or carbombing were the alleged means of assassination. It was said that Ali made contact with Al-Queda while schooling in Saudi Arabia in 2001. He was detained there from 2003 to 2005, during which time he confessed to AL-Queda membership. Ali's defense says the confession was obtained by torture, but the judge did allow it as evidence. The jury deliberated two days before delivering the guilty verdict, which the defense said they will appeal. Sentencing is scheduled in February. Source: news.bbc.co.uk
