On Monday the 28th, Canada's minority goverment fell after a vote of no-confidence that resulted in 171 to 133. This comes only one year and five months after the current Liberal government was elected. This is the first time in history that a government in Canada has fallen to a straight no confidence vote. The vote was called for by Opposition leader Stephen Harper when he officially tabled the motion of no-confidence last week. The results mean that another federal election will be held in mid-January. A side effect of the vote is that a number of bills will die "on the table" including an act to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana and an animal cruelty bill. Source:
