UK Government Advice on "Scary Santa" Withdrawn A government website for teachers has withdrawn its advice about "scary Santa" and pantomimes. The site had warned teachers about having Santa come to school parties because he can be "terrifying". Parents' groups condemned the advice. The website,
http://www.teachernet.gov.uk,, stated "For very young children, Father Christmas can be terrifying, and if you are planning a visit from Santa, you'll need to make sure that fearful children are near an exit." A spokesman for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) said: "We fully support the traditional British Christmas. This is not government policy and was not produced by the department as the disclaimer on the site makes clear." Source: education.guardian.co.uk
