A pocket watch known as the "Grande Complication" took nearly 8 years to make and was commissioned in 1916 by New York financier Henry Graves Jr. The watch sold at auction in Geneva on Monday night for 2.54 million Swiss francs. The gold Patek Philippe pocket watch is thought to be one of the most important watches made in the 20th century. A private Swiss museum bought the watch in a classic auction-room bidding match.
