The Turkish national football team is to face a FIFA inquiry, following an incitement of violence against the Swiss team in last night's World Cup qualifying match. Turkey has failed to qualify, despite winning 4-2. They scored less away goals. The inquiry will be completed by the 9th of December, and will show whether or not Swiss players were also at fault. The uproar took place at the end of the game and Swiss defender Stephane Grichtig was hospitalised. Swiss midfielder Johann Lonfat said: "We were attacked. It was unbelievable... We expected an electric atmosphere, an overheated atmosphere, but not that. This went beyond the limits of intimidation. I was told: 'We're going to slit your throat.'" Source: news.bbc.co.uk |
