Scientists say that global warming changes in the Gulf Stream, the natural radiator which transports warm currents of water from the Caribbean, is likely to make temperatures drop significantly in Europe. The rate of deep cold water being sent back down the Atlantic by the Gulf Stream has reduced by 30%, meaning that the overall circulation of warm water traveling northwards has also dropped. It is possible that the whole process may stop completely. Arctic ice melting due to global warming is being seen as the cause, altering the salinity of the ocean.
