Justine Henin, 27 Jun 2007
Top-seeded Justine Henin of Belgium has advanced to the third round of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in London with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Russia's Vera Dushevina.

Men's top-seed Roger Federer of Switzerland also appears to be on the way to the third round. He was leading 18-year-old Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 6-2, 7-5, 2-0 Wednesday when rain forced play to be suspended for the second time of the day.

Americans Andy Roddick and Serena Williams also won their second round matches. The second-seeded Roddick served 15 aces en route to a 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 win over Danai Udomchoke of Thailand, while number seven Williams beat Australia's Alicia Molik, 7-6, 6-3.

Third-seeded Serbian Jelena Jankovic also made it to the third round, beating Slovakia's Jarmila Gajdosova, 6-1, 6-1. Number nine Martina Hingis of Switzerland ousted Aiko Nakamura of Japan, 6-1, 6-2, but American Laura Granville upset 20th-seeded Sybille Bammer of Austria, 6-1, 6-4.

In the men's second round, Fernando Gonzalez of Chile eliminated Colombia's Alejandro Falla, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6, while Richard Gasquet defeated fellow-Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

Before an earlier rain delay, 32nd-seeded Martina Mueller of Germany scored a so-called "double bagel," 6-0, 6-0 win over Israel's Anna Smashnova. Also in the first round, sixth-seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia ousted Melinda Czink of Hungary, 6-0, 7-6.

In other first-round matches, number 12 Elena Dementieva of Russia topped Nathalie Dechy of France, 6-2, 7-6, while 14th-seeded Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic upended Italy's Karin Knapp, 7-6, 6-2. Number 13 Dinara Safina of Russia beat Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko, 7-5, 7-6 and 17th seeded Frenchwoman Tatiana Golovin outlasted Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan, 5-7, 6-3, 8-6.
