I want my tattoos to stay black and crisp looking for at least another 40 years. And I love the sun. So besides staying out of the sun, whats the best way to keep them crisp?

sunscreen! lots of it the sun pulls the ink from you skin which makes it fade so keep it protected.

Moisturize and use sunscreen! Even if you don't use it on the other parts of your body apply it liberally on the tattoo! Unfortunately the sun will probably cause a decent amount of fading so keep up on the retouching.

Well I must tell you the obvious - sun exposure really affects the vibrancy or depth of darkness of any tattoo. No matter how well you care for it, most tattoos will not stay looking brand new for even five years, let alone 40. The best way to keep it looking good is to limit sun exposure, take really good care of it during the healing process and go back to get touch-ups every so often if it looks like it's fading in spots.

High SPF sunscreen. Make sure you get a UVA and UVB blocker.

But be aware that there will be some fading over the years no matter what. If you want it to look excellent for years to come, you'll need touch ups over the years, and maybe even a complete reinking.
