The suspension of a boy for wearing makeup to San Bernadino's Pacific High has been cancelled. Valerie Wallace, the boy's mother, said that school officials said he was not suspended for the makeup, but for wearing a black longcoat, which he denies.
"I think the school district knew they were in for a fight and they broke down," a surprised Wallace said. She says her son will return to school Monday in a business suit and makeup. School officials refused to comment further on the matter.
In a previous interview, Superintendent Arturo Delgado claimed, "We make every effort to be fair." However, a reporter who visited the school noted several students in apparent violation of the written dress code, with bare midriffs and baggy pants.
