What car should I buy?

posted in Misc Category |

Im 17 and Im looking for a new car and no one has given me money or helped me in any way. I need something that would be good for hiking and camping up to yosemite and other places like that. Four wheel drive and reliable and something that looks fairly good as a guy cant be frightning the girls. LOL. I live out in the country and when it rains on our ten acres its difficult to make it up the steep hill realy rocky and all dirt. So any vehicle recomendation would be great. Oh and what car insurance would be good for me being a teen and me paying for it on my own.

First off you cant go wrong with Progressive or AllState.

Secondly I would not recommend a new car to a 17 no offense. You should be looking for either a Jeep or a Subaru. One of the two in my opinion will be the most practical for your needs.

A preowned Honda CRV Toyota RAV4 or Nissan Xterra.

Crossovers aside perhaps a Subaru Impreza…

All of them either awd or 4wd.

Any topend Subaru with allwheeldrive. The Forester GT has the Impreza WRXs 2.0L turbod flat4 which has plenty of power and lowdown torque for getting up hills but in a small SUV body for decent storage space. The Outback is also a good car its essentially a wagon version of the Legacy with the engine choices of the Impreza. Most Scoobs have great reliability and the AWD system is tops. If you want to steer clear of Subaru for any reason then look for something with a turbo diesel engine and allwheeldrive. TDs have loads of torque which is usually available really early in the rev range which is good for getting up steep hills. Nissans XTrail or Pathfinder or Toyotas 4Runner would be the best fullsize SUVs for your needs.

    a Subaru or Nissan Pathfinder.

avoid jeeps. the Honda CrV is not for mud or snow.

for insurance your best bet is to be added to your parents coverage.
also if your a student see if you qualify for any discounts.

The Suzuki SX4 Fiat Sedici and Daihatsu Terios are all very good cheap to insure 4 wheel drive superminis. But theyre not too small and its hard to tell.

On the above link Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear UK tests the Daihatsu offroad against his mate Richard on a horse.
The Terios is my personal preference.

    Insurance group 7/8

062mph in 12.1 secs not bad for a 4 wheel drive supermini
