I need help with my weight loss (not a typical weight loss question)?

Question by manny: I need help with my weight loss (not a typical weight loss question)?
The beginning starts out just fine. I eat 1200-1400 calories a day and lose about a pound a week. My problem is, once I see that i’m losing weight, I start to obsess and then go right back to starving myself because I want to see the weight drop faster. It works, until I binge and then I overeat every day until I end up right back where I started. My problem is, I think I have trouble just maintaining a healthy weight loss diet and I get too obsessive and too excited about seeing the weight loss. I seriously don’t know how to just maintain a healthy diet for weight loss without starving myself or binging. Any ideas on how to maintain healthy diet and excersise for at least 1 pound a week?

Now i’m afraid It will be much harder for me to lose the weight because i’ve been doing this for many years and my metabolism may so slowed. Jesus I just want to maintain my fucking weight!

Eat healthier foods and don’t skip meals, just eat yogurt, fruits and veggies. Speed walk for 30-45 mins a day 5 days a week. NEVER STARVE YOURSELF! That doesn’t solve anything. Good luck!(:

Losing 10 lbs a month is a good and safe target. Any faster weight loss is likely to be temporary only and in most cases you regain it all.

Running, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, push ups, sit ups, squats, brisk walking and power walking all help for weight loss but dieting helps more.

You can always eat negative calorie foods for weight loss and below is a list of negative calorie foods that will boost your metabolism.

    Negative Calorie Fruits:
    apples
    cranberries
    grapefruit
    lemons
    mangoes
    oranges
    pineapple
    raspberries
    strawberries
    tangerines

    Negative Calorie Vegetables:
    asparagus
    beets
    broccoli
    cabbage (green)
    carrots
    cauliflower
    celery
    Chile peppers (hot)
    cucumber
    dandelions
    endives
    garden cress
    garlic
    green beans
    lettuce
    onions
    papaya
    radishes
    spinach
    turnips

These foods don’t actually have negative calories but when you eat these foods raw or slightly cooked your body burns more calories digesting and processing them than what is in the food itself.

For a healthy weight loss add some of these foods to your diet each day. Most of them are full of healthy nutrients.

You’re describing a pattern of restricted eating followed by binging. It sounds like you would benefit from some support, rather than advice. Sometimes when people experience problems with controlling their eating behaviour, they would benefit from seeing a counsellor. You could start with your doctor (to talk about the restricted eating/binging pattern, not weight loss). If s/he talks exclusively about weight loss, consult someone else.

It may be easy to fix with some support. It may just be a habit thing that would be resolved by talking to your friend, your doctor or a few sessions with a counsellor. I am interested in your use of the word ‘obsessive’, however. In some contexts (mental health) it can mean something more specific than in usual english usage….
