Im 14 and really want to write a book any advice?

posted in Teens |

Im only 14 but my dream is to be one of New York Times youngest bestsellers.
I will try my hardest to pursue my dream
how ever… I dont know where to get started

All I really know is that I want the main character to be a teen girl that loves to have fun gets in trouble at school alot and loves to party but also loves math and science and reading and other things that nowadays teens would call nerdy.
To teach teens that labels arent cool. No one is just one label.
Any ideas?
Thanks. : L
And maybe the girl would get bullied because she doesnt really fit in one group or clique.

And at the end she commits suicide and her suicide note could be the very last chapter in the book and have a dramatic and sad ending.
OR
She ends up becoming rich or famous or something like that and everyone who bullied her ends up feeling like shit.

Just give it a shot. No one can tell you how to write your own story.

The best piece of advice you could probably get is to read. The only way to become an excellent writer is to read the work of many other authors. It helps punctuation grammar it sparks ideas it helps show how to put things together. Reading is truly the best tool when trying to write a novel

Care to critique my book please?

Just write. Pratice your craft. Take some classes if you can. They do help you understnad how to craft a story.
    JUST WRITE

I would say you would need a more exciting story line. Its a great characteristic for the character but what makes it different than any other novel. Make it something never written about before.

Im going for the same goal…
    help me?

DONT TAKE MY IDEA Its really important to me.

Youre on the right path by knowing what you want your main character to be like. This is what I always do when I start writing a script.

I come up with an idea. Deciding what the story will be about. I give myself three sentences to sum up the beginnging middle and end.

After that I decide on characters. Since youre writing a book you will need to know more than I have to. Youll need to decide how tall a character is how skinny/fat what race what sex what age what type of personality and what hobbies the character has amongst other things. When youre writing a novel you cant know too much about your character and that means all characters. The more you know the better. It would also help if you got a picture of someone anyone…doesnt have to be a celebrity that you want your main character and other characters to look like.

Its even a good idea to create a back story to your character. Think of the character as a real person. What type of lifestyle did they come from? The more realistic the character is for you the easier it will be to write about them this applies more to the main character.

Once you think you have everything laid out the location the story line the characters and youve asked yourself who what when and where you should be able to start. Just write what you think. Dont worry about it being perfect and dont worry about punctuation at first. Once youve completed the book you can go back and fix errors. Have a few friends read it and tell you what they think. You may even want your English teacher to read it to give you advise on what needs fixing. Also the more you read the better youll be at writing. You need to know and understand the flow of a book before you can write one. So go to the library and read read read. Hope I helped and good luck. :

Someone important forget who but he/she was a writer and good at it said that you should write TONS of short stories before embarking on a novel. He/She was addressing young writers but a little older than you like just into college.

However if you wish to pursue your dream dont let me or anyone hold you back. Also if you get an idea stick with it a less it turns out horrible from the start. But if you are three quarters into a novel dont just stop. Finish it. If the first copy doesnt turn out good revise it. Revising is almost as important as actually writing it.

Lastly READ. Reading can help you with inspiration and help you get an idea of what makes a good book or even a bad one.

Good luck and pursue your dreams.

    Mmm… interesting…

Use your own style and enjoy writing dont show what you have written until you have finished and revised… and no matter what DONT EVER STOP WRITING when I was younger I wrote something then I had some problems and quit some years after I read what I wrote and said to myself wow did I write this but its a pity that nowadays I have no time to finish it.

    Good luck

OR maybe the story could take place over the right before school starts and the girl is one of those girls that dont do anything wrong and the boy is like that too and theyve being going out since she was 11 and now shes 1314 or 15 and they decide theyre going to change theyre image so they decide to have sex so they do and summer starts and she finds out that shes 3 months pregnant then theyre parents find out then they go back to schoolthe girl now is 7 months pregnanteveryone knew who did that too her then 2 months later they were walking to class she goes in labour she has the baby then about a week later she commits suicide bc the day after the baby was born the boyfather of her baby said he wanted to marry her but if she still wants the baby hes leaing so he leaves then 2 days after that he finds out shes dead bc of him then he ends up getting into alot of trouble during the next few girls like smokingdrugsdrinking and get many more girls pregnant and leaving them too and then eventually he settles down and marries a nice pretty girl and then the storey centers arounds him in which he has to tell his wife about all the girls he made pregnant and went off and left them
