Video clips from Boatzart 2009, 09 August 2009, Baywood (Los Osos), CA. Sponsored by The Baywood Navy whose slogan is "We don’t sail in water deeper than we can stand in." The famous Red Skunk Gypsy Band, with Molly Reeves, performed at this annual Boatzart Festival held at the pier in Baywood, CA (in the Morro Bay Estuary, just south of the city of Morro Bay, CA) on Sunday, August 9th 2009. The band started playing at 12 noon. There was enough water and tide to launch canoes, kayaks, rowboats and sailboats at 11 am, sail, paddle or row to the pier at 2nd Street, listen to the concert and return home. The concert, featuring Gypsy and Swing music of the 30s and 40s should remind you of better times, and make you feel like dancing or singing. Molly and her father, Lloyd Reeves, have been the perpetual winners of the June and October sail boat and kayak races run by the Baywood Navy www.baywoodnavy.org/ . Lloyd is also well known for constructing a 7/8 replica of a World War II submarine in his back yard. We are hoping he will sail it to the Boatzart Festival. This is a free concert and the ladies of the Baywood Navy were busy preparing the cookies, brownies and goodies for the famous “Cookie Boat” that is such a big part of the concert (donations appreciated). Five of us (Betty, Jovette, Norma, Hans, Mike) from the kayakmorrobay Yahoo! Group groups.yahoo.com/group/kayakmorrobay/ and kayak.morro-bay.com/ joined about 70 other paddlers and boaters, along with over 100 pedestrians, in attending this most cool get-together.
