Photovoice involves, engages and empowers teens in Wilmington

A few nice teen help images I found:

The city of Wilmington has higher teen pregnancy rates and fewer kids staying in school as compared to other cities across the state. Recently, several local community organizations partnered to find out what might be leading to these statistics through an innovative research project called Photovoice.

Photovoice aims to use photographic images taken by teens to help identify and understand the barriers, facilitators and social norms of youths in Wilmington. Those findings are then shared with community leaders and policy makers in an effort to promote social and policy change.

On September 27 at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, Wilmington teens unveiled their Photovoice images to an enthusiastic audience of parents, community leaders and local policy makers. Through their photographs and accompanying words, the teens uniquely captured their perceptions about their futures.

The project found teens perceive a high school diploma, access to community centers and caring adults in their lives as positive influences on their future. Negative influences on their outlook included gun violence, substance abuse and peer pressure. After the photo exhibit and multi-media presentation, the audience engaged in a rich discussion about the importance of the teens’ findings and potential venues for the Photovoice project.

With funding from Delaware’s Division of Public Health and the T.D. Charitable Foundation, Christiana Care’s Women’s Health Services team partnered with Neighborhood House, Inc., People’s Settlement Association and Kingswood Community Center, Inc. to conduct this local research project.

Below is a list of negative calorie foods that will boost your metabolism.

These foods don’t actually have negative calories but when you eat these foods raw or slightly cooked your body burns more calories digesting and processing them than what is in the food itself.

For a healthy weight loss add some of these foods to your diet each day. Most of them are full of healthy nutrients.

Negative calorie fruits:
apples
cranberries
grapefruit
lemons
mangoes
oranges
pineapple
raspberries
strawberries
tangerines

Negative calorie vegetables:
asparagus
beets
broccoli
cabbage (green)
carrots
cauliflower
celery
Chile peppers (hot)
cucumber
dandelions
endives
garden cress
garlic
green beans
lettuce
onions
papaya
radishes
spinach
turnips

Q&A: Some teen advice for beauty and makeup? PLEASE HELP?

Question by : Some teen advice for beauty and makeup? PLEASE HELP?
I have a ton of questions… Please feel free to answer as many or as little as you like.

1: What foundation should I use? I have paler and combination skin that is super patchy and pink in awkward places. I want to look super natural- like I’m not wearing any! (Going for the “I have naturally perfect skin” thing. LOL) And how to pick a color?

2: I need some fun yet casual things to do with my hair. I have shoulder length somewhat-thin brown hair and I’m tired of the same old. Keep in mind I only have 10min on my hair in the morning. Please no YouTube video searches.

3: I’m definitely on the petite side. Meaning I’m a double 0 at age 13 for pants. I know you might think I don’t appreciate it, but I have NO boobs, NO butt, and I’m not strong! Do you have any tips on how to enhance my better features?

4: This goes along with #3. Do you know any good workouts NOT for weight loss, but for toning my abs and butt, and helping me get stronger? (I also do sports and dance)

5: Again, including my size, do you know where I can get Tight skinny jeans? Everywhere I go, they’re either too big or too short at the bottom, or they’re awkward around the crotch area and make my butt look saggy. Any places?

Please answer! As I said before, any (or all) you want! Also, keep in mind I’m on a middle school budget. I need inexpensive stuff, if possible. Thanks sooo much!!!! I know I’m asking for alot, but I hope you’ll help!

Why does my ipod video only play the music to my music videos?

Question by Katie: Why does my ipod video only play the music to my music videos?
I have an ipod video 30G. When I go to play my music videos that I bought from itunes it only plays the music. The album artwork and everything come up, but not the actual video. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Joy M
If you are accessing the video from the Music section on your iPod, then it won’t show the actual video. If you access the video out of the video section, then the video should show.

If that’s not the problem or you still have problems despite, try calling Apple support at 1-800-275-2273, to troubleshoot with an Apple representative.

What do you think? Answer below!
